In a major move on draft day, the Oklahoma City Thunder have acquired two favorable 1st round picks in the 2024 NBA Draft. As part of a trade deal, the Thunder will receive the two most protected of the Houston Rockets' and Los Angeles Clippers' 1st round picks.
The Thunder's draft position will significantly improve as a result of this trade. In June, they had been slated to receive the 25th overall pick from the Denver Nuggets as part of the Jerami Grant trade. Now, they have the potential to secure a top-4 pick if both the Rockets and Clippers perform poorly in the upcoming season.
This move reflects the Thunder's ongoing rebuilding process. With Chet Holmgren and Josh Giddey already on the roster, the team is targeting additional young talent to build around in the future.
